Recently some friends had a new little baby arrive. They are very involved in cub scouts and they already have two older ones: “brother” and “sister” and now “baby” has arrived. On more than one occasion, I’ve heard the adults refer to each other as “mama bear” and “papa bear”. A Berenstain Bears baby quilt just seemed fitting.
The Berenstain Bears fabric and coordinating polka dot fabric is from Moda. The grey is KONA charcoal and the binding is KONA chartreuse.
For the quilt design, I followed Elizabeth Hartman’s tutorial Charm Squares Baby Quilt which you can download here.
The top came together easily in an hour. The back was a large single piece of fabric and the quilting was just simple straight line quilting (1/2″ apart).
The back, as I mentioned, was one large piece of fabric. I used this fun Curious George fabric I had a bunch of in my stash. So nice to use up more fabric from the stash!
