Solveig in Chambray Pin Dots

Until recently, Citronille patterns were only available in French. They have been on my dream sewing list for a long time, but my rusty French skills were holding me back. I’m so excited that a selection have now been translated into English! Thanks to Sew Mama Sew and Fiddlehead Artisan Supply, I got to test one out.

This is Solveig.

It is a perfect little feminine blouse.  So simple and yet, so stylish.

The pattern came in 4 sizes (2, 4, 6, and 8).  I made the size 8 for my daughter (who will turn 8 in late fall). It was a perfect fit.

The blouse came together in less than an hour and it was so simple. The instructions, which as I mentioned have been translated into English from the original French, were clear and very easy to follow. The placket construction was easy to follow and turned out really well. Those can get a little tricky if you haven’t sewn many of them, but the illustrations and clear instructions made that step a breeze.

For this version, I used Robert Kaufman Chambray Pin Dots in Indigo. I love the look of solid from far away, but up close, lots of texture and my favorite – pin dots!  I used faux mother-of-pearl snaps in place of the button that were called for by the pattern. The substitute for snaps vs. buttons was a personal choice –  mostly because I liked the look of the mother-of-pearl against the chambray.

Gwyneth really liked the blouse. It fit her very well and was comfortable. It was easy to move in (and play). I am definitely making her another. I think I will also be making a few for myself – and ordering a copy of the adult version of this blouse – which you can find here.

I also can’t wait to make this little coat for Gwyneth… won’t it be so cute! Already have amazing wool coating and Liberty lining (yes, Liberty lawn) to make it….
