I first tried my hand at needle turned applique in Carolyn Friedlander’s Quilt Market booth (Spring of 2015 in Minneapolis). I was hooked. I love it. I am no stranger to hand stitching and this was so fun.
Not long after market, I got a copy of Carolyn’s book (Savor Each Stitch). This quilt, Circle Lattice, is from her book. I did mine in turquoise and white (both Kona). The white is one large single piece of fabric, folded and cut and stitched in place.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking this quilt everywhere with me while working on it.
I made one single block and added 6.5″ borders on all sides. The original was slightly smaller. The resulting quilt is 45″ x 45″.
The quilting was done on machine – very minimal. Diagonal lines were quilted around the outside of the lattice motif and very minimal tracing of the white lines was done on the inside.
