We’re slowly recovering from Christmas here – getting the house back in order and finding new homes for all the toys. I wanted to pop in and share with you one of the last-minute Christmas gifts I made for the kiddos! This little puppet theater was definitely my favorite thing I made for the holidays and it was an instant hit with the kids.
The basic theater came from Oliver + S, “Little Things To Sew”. I used a dark brown canvas for the main portion of the theater and added some colorful, fun bunting! I didn’t think I’d have any time to make puppets before Christmas, so I picked up a nice assortment at IKEA.
The puppet theater is held in place in a doorway by a tension rod, so it’s easily taken down and stored. I think I may need to make a little drawstring bag for it to keep it tidy when it’s not in use.
Although it may be up for a little while, the kids seem to be enjoying it far to much right now.
This is so great! I love the idea of putting in a doorway with a tension rod. Pinning this one for the future!

I love it! Will also be pinning it for future reference…
Oooooooh, I’ll be running to my fabric stash to find supplies to make this ASAP!!!!!!!
Love this so much!!!! I’d been thinking of doing a doorway puppet theater, but I haven’t seen anything quite as cute as yours. The bunting and colors are great.
I love your rendition! Very cute.
So cute! Just found this via PINTEREST! Still need to make puppets for ours. I have a few doorway theaters left in my etsy shop! http://www.etsy.com/listing/87948436/doorway-puppet-theater-vintage-maud
I love this! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. What did you use for the curtain to open and close (to slide back and forth on)?
a dowel from the hardware store. 🙂
What are the final dimensions?
