I cut this fabric over a month ago. Yup. A month ago. It was warm and sunny. I got a little carried away cutting fabric for projects and just placed each into a clean ziploc bag. Well today was the last day of summer (or at least part of the day) and in honor of Elsie Marley’s Kids Clothing Week Challenge, it was time to pull it out and finish it.
It’s the popover dress from Oliver + S (which you can download for free here). It’s a very simple dress and paired with a simple fabric (from David Walker’s Hopscotch line) and a bit of jumbo ric-rac, I think it looks great.
I actually made french seams on this one, just for fun. Looks so nice, I don’t know why I don’t do it more often. Oh, right, . . . serger. Those things are just too fun.
I know she’ll wear it into the fall paired with a cute pair of jeans and boots! I’ll have to negotiate about a sweater.
Of course, can’t leave the dolly out of the fun. (Get that free pattern here). My photography assistant (my 5-year-old son) insisted the doll hold a flower.
Must go cut fabric for tomorrow’s project!
