Over the weekend we went camping! We went to Crow Wing State Park, near Brainerd, MN. It was actually quite chilly and there was some rain, but overall it was fun. We stayed in a little cabin (just big enough for the beds and a table). The kids loved it because it had bunk beds!
The kids got to roast marshmallows – for s’mores, although not all of the marshmallows made it into the
s’mores.
We also took the opportunity to take the kids fishing. I’m not big into fishing – nothing against those who love it. (I’ve only gone one other time in my life – and I never baited my hook, or took the fish off. And I still haven’t – Thanks Marie for baiting Gwyneth’s hook.) Connor was the one so eager to go as he had never gone fishing before. The fish were mostly eating the bait right off the hook, but the fish were close to the dock so the kids could see them. In the end, Connor decided that “Fishing is boring. You just sit around and do nothing and wait.” Yes, that’s pretty much it.
On our last day, the sun finally came out and went for a little hike on the trails.
It was really beautiful in the park
and the views of the Mississippi were quite lovely.
Beautiful!! ♥
