Gwyneth started preschool yesterday. She was very, very excited – and ready to go! I whipped up this little backpack for her on Monday.
The pattern I used was the penguin backpack from Liesl Gibson’s, Little Things to Sew. It came together beautifully and quickly. I love that the backpack was lined.
The fabric used was Hopscotch from Free Spirit designed by David Walker. I used the lining fabric for the straps which gives it a nice look.
The pocket had a bit of the pink fabric too along with the circle of friends fabric – which you may remember from another dress.
All ready for school!
This is so cute!! I love the size of it and the fabric you choose!
I love it!! Did you just interface the outer fabric only? this is our sew along this month, i might have to show yours off!
Wow, this is super cute!
Can you share a tutorial (how-to) for this backpack? Or can you tell me, where can I find one?
I would like to make one for my 3 years old daughter. Thank you very much!
I see you’ve made both this backpack and the Made by Rae one. I’m making this one and am trying to decide on the placement of the straps. Which do you think is best? Any store-bought ones seem to have the straps come from the top of the bag and attach at the lower sides, like Rae’s. I’m leaning toward doing it that way, at least with the lower attachment. What do you think? Thanks!
You have a great artist in yourself. You have made a really cute backpacks. Thank you for sharing a very valuable information to us. I will definitely to create for me as i’m not much creative I know it will not look as cool as you had created. I’ll sure update this kind of stuff in my collection soon so you can even earn money for your creativity.
