Christmas Eve morning I did a bit of last minute holiday sewing. I really liked the idea of stockings that were all different, but had similar colors — and not just red and green — I love the red and brown combination and even though only one print is “Christmasy” — the poinsettia print — I think they all look very festive!
I used the basic pattern from Noodlehead for the stockings, but changed much of how it was put together. The brown stripe at the top is Kona in Chocolate — it is also lined with it. The loop for hanging is extra large — large enough for it to hang on a doorknob, if we want. I also used Pellon’s fusible fleece (instead of just plain batting) which was fused directly to the wrong side of the exterior fabric.
First up is Gwyneth’s stocking. This fabric is from Robert Kaufman Sparkle All The Way – Holiday. I used it a few years ago in Gwyneth’s Christmas dress (and Connor’s tie). They looked so cute all dressed up in them!
Connor’s stocking is made using David Walker’s Boys Will Be Boys – Puppies in Red. He loved it!
Perhaps he will “outgrow” the puppies one day — but I won’t mind making another.
My stocking — Red Lotus from Amy Butler. **LOVE**
And finally my husband’s stocking — Red Circles by Monaluna from Mingle for Robert Kaufman. I really like how this one turned out.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! My hubby surprised me with a brand new camera — a Canon Rebel EOS T3i. I’ve been having lots of fun playing with it and learning how to use it. So hopefully you’ll see some nice photos in the future!
I really love these. Love the browns with reds.
Love the sticking. I’m marking this for next year. Our stocking really need an overhaul!
