The weekend before Thanksgiving was the first Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild (MMQG) retreat. It was held at Camp Wapo in Amery, WI and I got to run away for the weekend and just sew!  Yay!

At the retreat, it’s just like going to camp, except you can sew and sew all day (and even into the night).  Meals were included so we just showed up at the dining hall at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the rest of the time we were sewing in this beautiful space.  You can read more about the weekend fun here in my post for the MMQG blog.

I spent the entire weekend on one project.  I thought I would get more done, but I wanted to relax after just releasing my latest pattern, so I took it easy.  I did a lot of socializing too.  I brought with me two very large cuts of KONA coal and KONA grass.  Following the pattern by V and Co.,  I took that fabric and cut it up into lots of pieces and started sewing!

I really enjoyed sitting in the sunlight sewing!  It was so much fun!

And finally I made this twin size quilt!  It will be a present for Connor at Christmas.  I’m very excited to see it finished on his bed.

I still have to do the quilting on the quilt (I’m waiting for some pretty thread in the mail), but it’s all basted and ready to go.  I think Connor is going to be really excited to open this quilt Christmas morning!  (Now to work on Gwyneth’s quilt at least until the thread arrives).

And lucky me, I took home this fabulous FQ bundle of fabric from Michael Miller (Preppy) as a door prize from the retreat.  Yay!  Can’t wait to dive into that bundle.
